Artificial foods: sliced ham or turkey
Few foods come in as handy as sliced ham or turkey, and surely we can find them in almost every fridge. But, do you really know what those foods are?
“Well, ham, of course”, you’ll think. And you’ll have to think twice.
This type of artificial food is partly made of processed meats. Doctors have related these meats to an increased risk of cancer.
That’s why the World Health Organization has already warned several times about its consumption, and has recommended that they be consumed only occasionally.
When you buy a package of these sliced ham, it does not contain more than a 60 or 65% of real turkey or chicken. And among the other ingredientes, we can find some shocking things.
Sugars, salt, stabilizers, preservatives, flavor enhancers … We are almost used to these. But, traces of milk, soy, potato starch, celery or mustard in sliced ham?
It’s hard to believe, but it’s completely real. And this not only applies to sliced ham or turkey. Sliced bacon is even worse, and may contain flour or yeast.
Our advice is to consume these foods only once in a while. And if you do, better buy them fresh at the deli.
